What's with the use of Generative AI for Images?

Hey Dutch, you make a point in the licensing section about not permitting the work to be used to train AI / ML systems (Such as LLMs). What gives?

Great Point. This entire portal is a hobby project. I'm not a musician, and I'm moreso not a writer. I'm just someone who has had music as a part of his life and needed a creative outlet. I found it in creating small songs and clips. They're imperfect, silly, and very much made in my spare time. Later, my kids bullied me into sharing them into the void.

But holy crow, I'm definitely not a visual artist.

I'd love to present you with real, organic art that somehow conveys my inspiration for the music.

You're stuck instead with cover images generated with Generative AI. I know it's really not complicated, I understand the implications, and I see how it can be viewed as not supporting the visual arts - because it honestly is. AI is, for most intents and purposes, soulless approximations of art. And using it to complement my work makes me a hypocrite.

As a hobbyist who supports a family, I struggle to fiscally justify commissioning REAL artists for my silly little audio things, so I selfishly choose to release something with AI visuals complementing them instead of not having a visual component. It's likely akin to frosting a basic vanilla cake with cow dung, and that's purely on me.

And if that upsets you, I get it.

Peace and Love,

Dutch
