59 EXT. THE MOUNTAIN'S PEAK - DAY
GABE is now at the end of his rope - both physically and literally. He dangles at the very end of a thin SEISOL FIBRE ROPE. The fibres have burned and cut his hands - it wasn't made for climbing, and the rope is fraying. He has only moments left before falling.
On a jagged OUTCROPPING, JESSIE lies flat. She can almost touch him, but she cannot stretch her arm any futher. One mistake takes them both down.
It is brutally cold. Their muscles are barely working, their eyes so cold they hurt.
GABE
Jessie - go! The charges... any second...
JESSIE
No way, Gabe. Not this time. Give me your hand!
Another gust of wind pushes GABE away. He fights back toward her.
GABE

JESSIE (CONT'D)
On three. Swing to me and don't let go.
GABE
Jessie, the explo-
A distant, muffled THUMP.
The mountain echoes the thump with a growing RUMBLE.
Snow begins sliding off the ledge beside JESSIE'S face.
JESSIE
Three!
GABE kicks with the gust and arcs toward the rock. Jessie LEANS OUT, reaching for his hand. The rope GROANS.
Their hands meet - SLIP - ... - then CLASP.
JESSIE (CONT'D)
Now Climb!
